Adventures of a Lifetime

If you'd like your first post-lockdown holiday to be one to remember, we have unveiled a capsule collection of far-flung trips, categorised as Adventures of a Lifetime. There are three offerings in total, although one is a twin-centre tour, and they all depart in 2021 – giving you plenty of time to get ready...

Bhutan & Nepal

The first adventure of a lifetime will take intrepid guests to Bhutan and Nepal. This 14-day tour has the highest activity rating, meaning that it will be more strenuous and will feature much more walking than Brightwater’s usual tour type – not surprising you see that a hike to the famous Tiger’s Nest monastery is included on the itinerary. The trip is centred around the Jambay Lhakhang Drup Festival, known for its vibrant ritual dances, and there will be adequate time to experience the atmosphere and festivities alike. Guests will begin the tour with a couple of days in Kathmandu, which offers them a chance to get used to the Himalayan altitude. It’s onwards from here, and visits range from the Royal Botanical Park in Lampelri to dzongs that boast strategic positions as watchtowers. This tour is led by Julia Corden, Garden Manager at the Explorer's Garden in Pitlochry and longstanding Brightwater guide.

14 days from £5,045 per person | Departs 15th October, 2021.

Landscapes & Flora of Patagonia

The second tour in this collection also has a 5* activity rating, meaning that it is more challenging and requires a good level of physical fitness. Glittering glaciers, azure lakes, verdant forests and colourful shrubs await discovery on this exciting 13-day holiday, which has a focus on the wonders of the natural world. Highlights include El Calafate Mountain Park, named for the little shrub with yellow leaves and purple berries; the Moreno Glacier, known for being the third largest glacial area in the world; the mountain of Lom del Pliegue Tumbado; and, of course, Torres del Paine National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that boasts some of the most spectacular mountain vistas to be seen. An expert local guide will accompany this tour in order to help identify plants as guests pause to botanise on the hillsides and in the forests.

13 days from £6,645 per person | Departs 30th November, 2021.

Flowers & Flavours of Colombia

Less strenuous than the previous two holidays, this 14-day escape in Colombia offers a dazzling array of lush landscapes, colourful cities and natural wonders, bathed in the warmth of the tropics. Observe wonderful flowers, experience rich flavours and indulge in the most flavoursome of coffees. There will be a full day’s visit to Chicaque National Park, which is a humid cloud-forest environment of great biodiversity: learn about the Silleteros, local people who grow and sell flowers, usually made up into extravagant wreaths and other displays known as silletas; and head off in search of endemic orchids and butterflies.

14 days from £3,445 per person | Departs 16th February, 2021.
