Gardens of Distinction
Summary
Some very distinguished gardens feature in this tour of Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Northamptonshire, not to mention some very stately homes, including Blenheim Palace and Waddesdon Manor.
It is on the Waddesdon Estate that we enjoy the exclusive highlight of our holiday, a guided tour of the private Rothschild walled garden at Eythrope, a working garden that provides produce for the Waddesdon estate. After our private tour we will transfer to Waddesdon Manor itself for lunch. Thereafter, we will have the afternoon to tour the house, a lavishly decorated fantasy pastiche of a Loire Château, and explore the gardens, with their elaborate bedding schemes and Rococo aviary.
Elsewhere, we visit other gardens associated with distinguished politicians, such as the late Lord Carrington’s garden at The Manor House and Blenheim Palace, the seat of the Duke of Marlborough and the birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill. The Savill Garden in Windsor, which has connections with the Royal Family, completes an aristocratic garden tour.
