Summary

Cornwall’s gardens are renowned the world over for their colour and variety, and there are some truly outstanding examples here, many of them privately owned. These include Bosvigo, with wonderfully colourful borders; Trebartha with many water features and great views, and the Italianate-style Lamorran. We begin at Lanhydrock, where nineteenth century formal gardens surround a fine seventeenth century house. Trewithen has long enjoyed a great reputation amongst garden connoisseurs thanks to its outstanding collection of Asiatic trees and shrubs, while Trelissick is a more modern affair which is constantly evolving with new planting and fresh ideas.

Choose between spring when the rhododendrons, azaleas and magnolias burst into life or high summer when the hydrangeas run riot and the flowering reaches its peak.

Tour highlights:

  • Classic parkland and formal gardens at Lanhydrock
  • Trewithen’s testament to the great age of plant hunting
  • Innovation and contemporary style at Trelissick
  • Lamorran’s unique blend of Italian and Japanese style
  • The result of years of hard work by an enthusiastic owner at Marsh Villa
