Summary

Our Cornish spring, late summer or early autumn walking experience is based around the 28-mile Saint’s Way that runs coast to coast from Padstow to Fowey, continuing along the probable route of early Christian travellers making their way from Ireland to the Continent, which unlocks the atmosphere of the fascinating Celtic past and traditions of the region.

After walking the first section from Padstow to Withiel, we have a relaxing afternoon in the country house garden of Pencarrow before returning to our hotel in Lanhydrock. Next day, we walk the section from Withiel to Lanivery and in the afternoon explore the National Trust property that lies close to our hotel, Lanhydrock House and Gardens. After walking the final section of the trail from Lanivery to Fowey and enjoying some free time in this picturesque harbour village we transfer to Marsh Villa, situated in a former tidal creek made famous by Daphne du Maurier’s book, The House on the Strand.

Tour highlights:

  • Exhilarating yet easily accomplished walks
  • Picturesque Cornish countryside
  • Classic parkland and formal gardens at Lanhydrock
  • Historic gardens at Pencarrow
  • The result of years of hard work by an enthusiastic owner at Marsh Villa
